Baja Z update!

Been a loooong time since I’ve made an update but its moving a bit.

Its development has been a bit delayed with getting the right guys on had to scan the correct vehicle suspension parts to be built into a custom setup that provides more travel and durability than the stock Nissan Z configuration. That is now out of the way and the parts will be crafted upon the opening of time/resources at the fab company that is forecasted to begin sometime in October (fingers crossed).

In the meantime, other items are progressing—headers for one…and here we have pin stands going in to make servicing the vehicle much easier. So things are moving…Now targeting Sandblast 2024 for its first real run. We’ll see…

Yes, video #4 but day 5 of the build that includes the tacking in of the main hoop. Brutal conditions in the build shop on this day…sub 40 degree temps.

Removing sound deadening and removing brackets. More important is the start of the move of brakelines and harness to inside the vehicle rather than underneath for protection sake. Not exactly a lot left of it at this point...Tubing and cage began next…

So I think I’ve dubbed the project the “BajaZ”. If the original was the SafariZ built by Bill Petrow at Broken Motorsports, this one will take it a step farther and be Baja in its flavor vs. Safari…Day 1 video of the build can be found below. I’ll post the others here in the days to come. This was the “get it up on the lift and take off some of the easy parts” stage from back in December.

Quite Interesting...

Well…here is a sneak peek at one of the most exciting and pleasing aspect of the new build…but also one of the least important.

Liveries do nothing for speed, safety, or performance (despite all those 20+ HP for that sticker jokes!) but they do make the vehicle “yours” and distinct from all others. I mean, who wants yet another blue Subaru? I’m also not a “professional” racer so there is nothing to be done with the livery that will financially support the effort so it can be a blank slate to do what I want. Hell…I may even put fake sponsors on the vehicle to make it look the way I want.

Here I worked with Serra Graph https://www.facebook.com/SerraGraph/ who has worked quite often with a number of American teams including Racing for Heroes that provided a solid recommendation. We’ll be wrapping the whole vehicle to give it a uniform look and a bit of paint protection as well. They have been super responsive and easy to work with in making modifications to the design as I wanted. The wrap wouldn’t go on the vehicle for a long time yet but check one more item off the list as the basic design is now done. Just a hint of it here that does include the look of the Braid wheels as well…Any more would give away the whole thing.
